The ideal candidate will have 5+ experience underwriting and servicing small to large size commercial accounts and is comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. 

Senior Commercial Underwriter

Responsibilities:

  • Review quote requests and applications to determine risk acceptability, policy terms and rates to process new business.
  • Review and process renewals, endorsements and cancellations.
  • Providing quotation pricing for the account upon review of the submission to include Underlying Pricing / Peer Pricing / Burn Cost analysis.
  • Liaising with brokers throughout the underwriting process including ascertaining account objectives, discussion points for meetings, engaging in pricing discussions, policy issuance, etc.
  • Preparation of policy documents and issuance for accounts; and reviewing and analyzing underlying binders, policy forms and endorsements where follow form coverage is offered.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is a relationship builder and can foster this relationships over long-term.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of commercial property and casualty underwriting.
  • Holds a Level 2 General Insurance license.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of underwriting discipline and pricing models.
  • Has strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Has a superior customer service approach and is detail orientated.
  • Has demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Strong focus and knowledge of underwriting in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
