Project Controls Analyst/Reporting Lead Calgary, AB

The Opportunity

Our client is looking for a Project Controls Analyst/Reporting Lead to support a contract up to 12 months. This position will initiate and maintain financial data for the IT portfolio and contributes to project controls improvements within the Project Group and provides technical guidance to Project Controls Analysts. This role will provide day to day coordination of cost control interactions with IT Capital Delivery Project Management, Regulatory, Accounting, and Business Analysis functions on complex projects.

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Prepare and ensure applicable financial project controls on estimates, forecasts, billings and project close-out.
  • Conduct project cost performance assessments. Adjust project forecasts, identify where budgets and milestones are at risk, and assess follow-up on remedial actions.
  • Prepare monthly status reports for project and program reviews.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the annual capital and operating budgets.
  • Interface with Project Managers to ensure alignment of cost estimates and cost forecasts with schedules.
  • Setup and maintain projects in SAP per PMO defined standards.
  • Provide quality assurance and adherence to corporate Project Controls procedures and practices.
  • Provide information to BA’s regarding historical projects for certain data sets.
  • Prepare monthly forecasting and yearly budgets into SAP
  • Prepare and ensure the integrity of capital cost reports
  • Assist in development of financial budget and forecast for Security and Information Services Group, monthly, detailed reporting for CAPEX. Variance analysis of actuals vs budget, forecast, IRs and GTA on a cost center and cost element level as required.
  • Support Capital Delivery in issuing the monthly project dashboard report.
  • Prepare Fixed Asset reports as per PMO requirements.
  • Provide Financial Variance Reports monthly for PMO

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Degree or related combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience managing  complex projects.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and SAP modules: Finance, Controlling, Project Systems, Materials Management, and Plant Maintenance.
  • Windows Suite: Visio, MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) SAP, MS Project and SharePoint, BExAnalyzer, Winshuttle, Tableau
  • Experience in the preparation of the annual capital and operating budgets.
  • Experienced in preparing monthly status reports for project and program reviews.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, decision making, detail oriented, adaptability/change management skills

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly rate of pay will be based on experience.
