Using your existing network / client base, you could specialize in providing advice to various industries such as Construction, Agriculture, Energy, Transportation, Manufacturing and Realty, to name a few. In addition to Property and Casualty (P&C) there are specialty risks such as Surety Bonds and new and evolving risks such as Cyber, Directors and Officers Insurance (D&O), Errors & Omissions (E&O).

What is required? Licensing.
To get started, one needs to obtain the AIC General level 1 license to be in the best position to receive an offer from a brokerage client.
Typically, brokerages will put sales people on a base salary with a commission structure (details vary from firm to firm).
