The Opportunity

Our client, is seeking a Payroll Advisor to add to their team on a hybrid basis. As a Payroll Advisor, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes for our client’s organization. Your primary focus will be on ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of employee compensation while adhering to all applicable federal and provincial regulations and company policies. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 

Key Account Responsibilities and Functions

  • Process and manage bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll cycles, including employee onboarding, timekeeping, deductions, and benefits administration.
  • Verify accuracy of payroll data, including salaries, bonuses, overtime, and other compensation components.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local payroll laws, regulations, and tax obligations.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports, summaries, and statements for management and finance departments.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee inquiries related to payroll matters.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of payroll transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end payroll processes, including issuing T4s and reconciling payroll accounts.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to streamline payroll operations and enhance efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a thorough understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and practices.
  • US payroll experience is an asset.
  • Experience with Oracle, WorkDay & LAPP pension plan is an asset.
  • Familiarity with payroll software systems and proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide clear explanations of payroll-related matters.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
