Senior Accountant – Law Firm – Edmonton
The Opportunity
Our client has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic, team-oriented, results-driven Accountant to join their Finance team. If you have several years experience working in the accounting department of a law firm and are looking to expand your skills in a very team focused environment, then we’d like to hear from you!
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
• Assist in all aspects of the Firm’s accounting which includes the preparation of monthly financial
statements, cash flow statements, bank & petty cash reconciliations, journal entries, various GL
reconciliations and analysis and the preparation of all lawyer/client mid-month and month-end
reports.
• Provide back-up support to the Firm’s Trust accounting processes and responsibilities which
includes bank reconciliations and all day to day trust related activities.
• Oversee all accounts payable processes which includes data entry, reconciliation of credit card
transactions, filing GST returns, law society filing disbursements and other related duties
• Perform all data entry of client receipts and disbursements
• Assist with annual budget projections
• Other duties as assigned to the accounting team or as assigned by the COO or Managing Partner
Qualifications
• Must have an accounting degree / diploma or CPA with at least 2 years financial reporting / trust
experience working with a Law Firm
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication skills
• Advanced Microsoft Office skillset working with Excel, Word, etc.
• Work as part of a team
• Prioritize and accommodate tasks when unexpected events arise
• Excellent organizational skills and proactive management of tasks to successfully meet deadlines
• Works well under pressure and meets time sensitive deadlines
• Liaise and work closely with all lawyers, students, and support staff
• Utmost professionalism in working with highly confidential information
