Senior Accountant/Manager of Planning, Finance and Accounting – Edmonton
Our client in the property and distribution industry is seeking a Senior Accountant. This role is office based (Edmonton), reports directly into the controller and has 4 direct reports. This role supports growth and continuous learning and advancement in your career.
What you’ll be doing on a regular basis:
- Review and approve annual landlord reconciliations
- Review and approve annual subtenant reconciliation
- Assist Tax Consultants to provide information for property tax appeals
- Approve journal entries, account reconciliations and occupancy related invoices
- Prepare occupancy budget
- Provide monthly occupancy variance analysis
- Maintain IFRS Finance Lease Schedule and reconcile to the Trial Balance
- Update Lease Summary on a monthly basis
- Prepare Business Cases to support Real Estate business planning
- Post Audit reviews of Capital Projects
- Review and approve utility invoices and perform variance analysis
- Supervise and provide support to the Fleet Financial Analyst
- Assist Controller with preparing the Capital Expenditure Budget
- Assist with the monthly consolidated forecast
- Ad hoc analysis to support planning for all lines of business
Experience you’ll bring to the table:
- CPA designation
- Leadership/mentorship experience
- Property Accounting experience
- Full cycle Accounting
- Financial reporting
- FP&A
- IFRS 16
Qualifications:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
- Completion of or working towards an Accounting designation
- At least (3) three years of Accounting experience in a supervisory capacity
- Real Estate experience is considered an asset
- Advanced knowledge in Excel
- Advanced knowledge of Accounting and Finance principles and procedures
- Basic knowledge in Oracle and Essbase
- Knowledge in Cognos Planning is considered an asset
- Advanced communication skills
- Advanced analytical skills
- Excellent attention to details
